How To Get Cass As A Companion Requirements And Recruitment Guide

Rose of Sharon Cassidy, better known as Cass, is one of the most compelling and capable companions in Fallout: New Vegas. As the daughter of John Cassidy from Fallout 2, she brings a rich backstory alongside formidable firearm combat abilities to your party. Recruiting her requires navigating specific questlines and dialogue checks in the Mojave Wasteland.

Locating Cass in the Mojave Wasteland

To begin the process of recruiting Cass, you must first travel to the Mojave Outpost located in the far southwestern corner of the map. You can find her drowning her sorrows inside the outpost's bar counter area. Speaking with her reveals her frustration with stranded supply lines and ongoing NCR bureaucracy.

Starting the Associated Recruitment Quests

Before Cass will agree to join your journey, you need to advance the quest line tied to her trading business. Visit the Crimson Caravan Company near Freeside to speak with Alice McLafferty. She will assign you the quest You Can Depend on Me, which involves buying out Cassidy Caravans.

Convincing Cass to Sell Her Business

Return to the Mojave Outpost to present Alice McLafferty's contract offer to Cass. To convince her to sign away her company, you must pass a Speech or Barter check of 50. Alternatively, completing her initial dialogue routes will convince her that moving on with a new traveling partner is her best option.

Recruiting Cass and Utilizing Her Perks

Once she agrees to sell the caravan, ask Cass to join you as a traveling companion. She grants the Whiskey Rose perk, which removes negative alcohol side effects and temporarily increases damage threshold when drinking booze. Keep in mind that maintaining a positive or neutral karma standing is necessary to keep her in your group.
